Yes, I'm a girl and I watch Porn

Tuesday, 5 March 2019

Porn. Porn is not a topic women talk about. My girlfriends talk about periods, boob pain, bloating, body hair, smelly dicks. But we don’t talk porn. Ever.

Boys grow up with porn. It’s a subject that is accepted in their lives from puberty onwards. Boy talk about masturbating, morning hard-ons and big busted babe websites. Girls do not. Girls are not meant to masturbate, and if they do they certainly shouldn’t tell anyone! And porn? That stuff is for men right?!

Wrong. To write this I had to complete the simple task of exploring women and porn. So I braved the topic with some female friends. And guess what… all of them had watched porn.

Turns out, women can really enjoy watching porn too. And not just the more vanilla porn tailored towards ladies. Women have just as many wild fantasies and fetishes as men. Bondage, dominating, feet, voyeurism, lesbians. You name it, some women out there will like it.

It was refreshing to hear women talking about their like of porn, but there seemed to be some sense of shame and embarrassment around it. Like it was a secret my friends would never usually share. A dirty little secret to keep to yourself. I don’t think this was just about porn, but the idea of women masturbating full stop.

But masturbation is marvellous. Who doesn’t feel freaking amazing and relaxed after a good orgasm?! And let’s be honest, there’s literally no one on this planet who can get you off like you can. You know your body inside out. I can orgasm within about 3 minutes with just my trusty hand. Add on some porn, maybe 2.5 minutes. Porn engages you visually in a way nothing else can when you are taking some self-pleasure time.

Porn can also be an excellent way for women to feel more comfortable with their bodies. Ok, ok… not if you just watch the standard big busted tiny women porn, totally aimed at men. But there’s a huge variety of women’s bodies in the broader porn industry. I think it’s healthy to get used to seeing all sorts of boobs, vaginas, bums, body hair, labia.

So you can keep your face masks and bubble baths, I’ll keep my porn. #selfcare.

I fiercely share what it’s like living up to society’s expectations of women. My aim is to help women everywhere find their own voice and self acceptance - not to conform to the boundaries the world tries to put around us.
